Glossary and examination of the parts of web address, aka the URL (Uniform Resource Locator which contains information about the location of the webpage).

[https] Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure
HTTP and HTTPS allow users to share information online. HTTPS sends encrypted data between a web browser and a web server. HTTPS is safer than HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol) because it guards against eavesdropping and forgery.
[www.janefisher.us] network address
The network is the domain name and all the pages connected to it. Ideally, this name is memorable and reflects your branding.
It is associated with the domain name system (DNS) - a hierarchical naming system that translates domain names into IP addresses.
[.us] top level domain (TDL)
A domain extension, or top-level domain (TLD), is the suffix that comes after the period in a website address. The most well-known TLD is .com. Other common TLDs include .org and .net.
[/blog] folder
[/domain-name-anatomy] subfolderLike any filing cabinet, websites use folders and subfolders (folders within a folder) to stay organized.
